2016 Sorento Coming

The 2016 Kia Sorento.

The 2016 Kia Sorento breaks cover ahead of the upcoming Paris Motor Show.

However, it seems Kia isn’t particularly keen on making a splash but the Korean automaker quietly slipped a few photos of the new SUV onto its European websites and promised that more info would arrive when the Sorento debuts at this fall’s Paris Show.

There was no U.S. announcement for the Sorento, meaning we probably would not get the new model until later—not surprising considering the thorough refresh Kia gave the SUV for 2014.

Kia also revealed new models for the Korean market as well as Europe well before the cars go on sale in the U.S.among them the latest Cerato; Forte in some markets and the new K900.

At least for the European Sorento shown, the new crossover’s wheelbase and overall length are up, and the roof is lowered slightly No other details are available at this time.

The new Sorento’s design is muscular and pleasing. The stylists kept the outgoing version’s jaunty D-pillar treatment and the Peter Schreyer “face.” Kia says there are vestiges of the sporty Cross GT concept in the Sorento’s sheetmetal.

We will bring you more as it becomes available, so be sure to check back in early October when the 2014 Paris Motor Show kicks off.
