‘Make good use of the opportunities given to you and ensure a bright future not only for yourselves, but your country’.

That advice was given to the students of the Luther Thorne Primary School, partner school of multi-brand automotive dealer, McEnearneyQuality Incorporated (MQI),  from Governor General Sir Elliott Belgrave on his historic visit to the school on February 10.

After being received by principal Marcia Best and the welcome party,  Deputy Head Girl and Class Four student Samara Waithe pinned a corsage on the lapel of Sir Elliott,  before he took his seat with other dignitaries, made up of education officials, gathered for the visit.

Sir Elliott told the students that much was being done to unsure that the youth of Barbados are exposed to the best possible learning environment and urged them not to waste their time on the many distractions that abound.

“We, the adults, are making sure that all of you are given the tools necessary to help to grow into good citizens and take your rightful places in this ever-changing world. Do not let us down; you can make it happen”, the Governor General told the students.

Sales and Marketing Manager of MQI, Margaret Hoyte lauded the visit of the local Head of State and said that such visits help to bring positive reenforcement to the lives of young.

“In today’s world they are so many distractions and parents, guardians and care-givers are hard-pressed to maintain balance in the lives of the youth of today”, the sales and marketing manager noted.
