'King' Classic meets international Mazda representative

‘In Bed Together’ and ‘Something Fishy’ earned 98 points and the 2015 Pic-O-De-Crop Calypso Monarch title and a brand new Mazda3 car, compliments local dealers McEnearneyQuality Inc. (MQI).

And the new ‘king’ received personal congratulations from the international representative for Mazda vehicles Kota Inoue of the Sumitomo Corporation and Margaret Hoyte, Sales and Marketing Manager of local agents (MQI)  in a simple ceremony in the Mazda showroom, of the company’s Wildey complex on August 12.

Apart from the top prize of a Mazda 3 compliments MQI with comprehensive insurance for one year from Bryden’s Insurance, Classic also won was presented with a trophy and cheque for $10,500 and a sweepstake of prizes valued at over $103,000 dollars which includes a voucher for clothing from Henrietta’s Closet; a trip for two to New York aboard JetBlue Airways, the US air carrier for the Barbados Crop Over Festival; travel insurance for one year covering up to 4 trips within that year from Co-operator’s General Insurance; a five-night Staycation for two including breakfast at Divi Southwinds; one year’s subscription to the Nation Newspaper and Better Health Magazine; a course of study for a Diploma in Management Studies compliments BIMAP; a Raymond Weil Watch from the Caribbean Exclusive His and Hers Set compliments Colombian Emeralds International.

Both Inoue and Hoyte wished the new ‘king’ well and said that they were looking forward to working with during his reign.

“Thirty-two years is a long time, but it also showed that perseverance seldom fails, and I am very happy for him”, Hoyte noted.

Classic credited his fans and his love for the art form as his motivation for competing each year. 

“At some point it became more about the music than it did the title, and deep down I always believed that one day, my music would have its own voice that would speak to those that mattered the way it did and I would be rewarded”, he added.
