The Luther Thorne Primary School are the Under 11 Boys Divisional Relay Champions.

And they won the trophy donated by multi-brand automotive dealers, McEnearneyQuality Inc. (MQI) at the recently-held Elite Sports Barbados Relay Fair at the National Stadium.

At morning full assembly at the Wildey-based school on Monday February 23, physical education teacher Adrian Brome, in an upbeat mood had high praise for the athletes.

Brome said that he was please with the result and that it augurs well for the morale of the school and that of the athletes.

“We won the 1000 metres sprint relay medley which was made up of the 100, 200, 300 and 400 legs where we won ‘gold’ and also performed a similar feat in the 4X100 metre”, the PE teacher noted.

And as if to show that the performance was no fluke, the athletes came back and grabbed the silver medal in the 4 X 200 relay.

Marketing and Sales Manager of MQI Margaret Hoyte said the company was happy with the results of the school and pointed that it was among the ways auto dealership give back to the community in which it operates.

“We are please with the way the young athletes equipped themselves under the conditions as it is at this level that the future lies, noting that the company will continue to be in the forefront of assistance to sports and the development of the youth of Barbados, ” the company official added.
