Pedro Callender is top salesman at McEnearneyQuality Inc.

Talking cars or planning strategy: Repeat Salesman of the Year at MQI, Pedro Callender, right, and third placed Nicholas Keizer appear to be discussing plans for 2017.

“It’s not about winning or losing because at the end of the day we operate as a family”.

That’s how repeat Salesman of Year Pedro Callender summed up 2016.“The year had its ups and downs, and some days were better than others, but it’s all in a day’s work so it is not a chore but a labour of love”, Callender told Motoring News.

Pointing out that he and his fellow salesmen sell all the brands, Callender, who was defending the title he won in 2015, delivered 160 units last year.

“We have a listening ear and find answers and satisfy the needs of everyone, whether they are new or repeat customers”, Callender noted.

And he is happy to have won, adding that they are a number of owners today who are happy with their respective choices whether their choice was a Kia, or a Mazda or a Ford that they purchased.

In a cool but an upbeat mood, Callender said he and his colleagues are looking forward to a good 2017.

Michael McClean,  a former winner of the coveted title and who finished second and who was responsible for the delivery of 114 automotive solutions in 2016, was busy dealing with new customers,  but said he was satisfied with the events of 2016 and was already dealing with the new year and could not be drawn into a photo shot, but Nicholas Keizer, also a previous top award winner, who delivered 110 units and placed third,  said it was a good year for him.

“My annual holiday is responsible for me not taking the top spot in 2016,  I thought that I had it wrapped up,  but that is life .. you have the mix the bitter with the sweet and be positive enough not to give up. You win some and you lose some, but the slates are wiped clean at the beginning of the new year as look forward to things to come”, he noted.

With a smile, he said he enjoys the camaraderie that exists among staff,  and he is looking forward to an exciting 2017 as the economy appears to be turning around and with the new models that are due later this year things should be very interesting.
